Top Ten Summer-Themed Movies

10. Back to the Beach. Frankie Avalon and Annettte Funacello return to the big screen in this 1980s campy musical. PeeWee Herman makes an appearance with a haunting number called "The Bird".

9. Summer and Smoke. The Tennessee Williams play stars a magnificent Geraldine Page as a prissy spinster whose animal desires are awakened in the summer heat.

8. National Lampoon's Vacation. Randy Quaid and his hillbilly family are a personal favorite. "My daddy says I'm the best French kisser."

7. Rear Window. The mise en scene outside of Jimmy Stewart's window is unforgettable: from the dancing "Torso" to the couple who like to sleep on their balcony.

6. Stand By Me. Who could forget a chubby Jerry O'Connell running like hell over the train tracks (not to mention that super blue screen behind him)?

5. The Parent Trap. Twins who don't know they're twins meet at summer camp, and the rest is history. The scene in which they practice transforming into each other is one of my favorite movie montages. I love Hayley Mills!!!

4. Suddenly Last Summer. Another Tennessee Williams play that stars a luminescent Elizabeth Taylor who is driven insane by witnessing her cousin being eaten alive. I'd go crazy too.

3. The Seven Year Itch. The legendary Billy Wilder directs a fantastic cast of two in this classic summer flick. Tom Ewell is hilarious.

2. Shag. The quintessetial chick flick about four girls living it up in 1960s Myrtle Beach should be required viewing for any fan of Sex and the City.

1. My Girl. This tear-jerker defines summer for me. This unforgettable movie has so many little jewels: from Vada serenading her teacher's picture with Laura Nyro's "Wedding Bell Blues", to Jamie Lee Curtis declaring that a girl can never wear too much blue eye shadow.

I do believe you've stunned the three of us. It's surprising, I know - after all, I think Aaron, John and I are chronically fighting for who gets to talk about the rainbows and unicorns.
