I figured out Surveillance at about the halfway point. The Hurt Locker kept me guessing the entire time... guessing who was/wasn't going to get blowed up real good.
Hurt Locker has a brilliant angle on delivering suspense - Will it blow up? It manages to develop all of its characters so you give a shit about them, and that's even harder to do. I doubt Surveillance has any of that.
To give you a comparison, Surveillance is kind of like if Vantage Point were a horror movie. Entertaining, but Hurt Locker really puts you there. No movie this year transports you better than HL.
I'm sorry that Kathryn Bigelow won't be able to face off against her ex-husband in the Final Eight.
